چکیده

Electrocatalysis at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) is an emerging field of research, which allows separation reactants according to their lipophilicity. Electrocatalysts various natures (noble metals, carbon-based and inorganic nanomaterials, enzymes, supramolecular ensembles) are assembled ITIES, either spontaneously or following application interfacial Galvani potential difference. While primarily used for electrocatalysis oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) hydrogen evolution (HER), recent work has focused on (OER) electrocatalytic oxidation elemental sulfur (S8) organosulfur compound. Protocols compare performances ITIES call careful data analysis a detailed knowledge catalyst’s morphological parameters (e.g., active surface area catalyst loading). However, standardisation such protocols yet be implemented required allow better comparison results from individual biphasic systems.

Electroanalytical behavior of poly-L-lysine dendrigrafts at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions.

In this work, the electrochemical behavior of nonredox-active poly-L-lysine dendrigraft molecules of four different generations was investigated at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES). The influence of the dendrigraft generation on the electrochemical response, sensitivity of the calibration curves, and limit of detection was studied. Cyclic voltammetry at the ITI...

Recent developments in electrochemistry at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions for ion sensing.

Ion transfer at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions allows the non-redox electrochemical detection of ions ranging from protons to macromolecules such as proteins. New electrochemical methods and analytical procedures have been developed in recent years to achieve limits of detection of from μM down to tens of pM for ion sensing in biomedical diagnostics and in environmen...

Examination of the Electrochemical Interface between Two Immiscible Electrolyte Solutions by Second Harmonic Generation

The potential-induced accumulation of electrolyte ions at the water/1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) electrochemical interface has been examined by total internal reflection second harmonic generation (TIR SHG). TIR SHG experiments provide the first direct optical measurements of the accumulation of the base electrolytes, tetraphenylarsonium (Ph4As) and tetraphenylborate (Ph4B), in the interfacial regi...

Second harmonic generation measurements of molecular orientation and coadsorption at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions

Resonant optical second harmonic generation (SHG) is obtained from monolayers of 4-n-octyloxybenzoic acid (OBA) and noctyl-4-hydroxybenzoate (OHB) adsorbed at the water/ 1,2dichloroethane interface. The polarization dependence of the SHG from pure monolayers of OBA and OHB indicates that the molecular axis of the OBA molecules is tilted 6” closer to the surface normal than that of the OHB molec...

Electrostatic interaction between colloidal particles trapped at an electrolyte interface.

The electrostatic interaction between colloidal particles trapped at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions is studied in the limit of small inter-particle distances. Within an appropriate model analytic expressions for the electrostatic potential as well as for the surface and line interaction energies are obtained. They demonstrate that the widely used superposition approx...
